Christmas is over. And, like every year, when you’re drinking some good italian wine (wait, there are wines from other countries?) and talking with some friends, the fatal question arrives: what do you wish for yourself for the next year?
Well, usually 94% of the things I’m saying at this time of the year are not going to happen. It’s not because I don’t want to, but because two weeks from now I will have other things in mind. But still, it’s always good to write them down, ’cause in december 2012 I will read them and say: look, I did only two things out of 24.
So, here is a list of things I wanna do, I wanna have, I wanna see to happen, I would like other people to do. Random thoughts to conclude this awesome 2011.
– clean my macbook screen more often. I sometime think that there are some unknown-to-the-world species living on my screen and on my keyboard. When I clean it up, I am able to see a total different world.
– invent a vacuum cleaner that is light, cool to see, silent and small. I mean, we are in 2012, and still we are using vacuum cleaners like this. REALLY?
– be proud to have a life beyond work. I really think that if you love what you are doing at work , you don’t have to consider your life and the work like two separated thing. Because your passion for something is part of your life. But still, looking at some people on twitter, it’s important to understand that LIFE needs moments that are not including WORK. If you don’t check twitter like every 2 minutes, or if you don’t comment on E-V-E-R-Y-thing you see on facebook and in every other social…it’s ok anyway. I mean, I can live without knowing every aspect of your life: if I don’t see you on twitter for two days, I don’t think you’re dead, but I do think you have a real life.
– play with Google. Being an SEO, Google is part of my every day life. I just wanna to relax about Google, play with it, and not bitching around every time it changes something. I mean, I can agree or not with it, that’s for sure, but I don’t wanna lose my breath on it. I don’t think it’s worthy.
– be openminded. There are things I did not tolerate 2 years ago. Travelling around Europe and knowing a lot of people, change my mind in a way. I want to keep doing this, because having an open-mind helped me a lot. Be curious , don’t be afraid.
– go more to concerts. I’m 28 years old, but I am in a phase in which I don’t enjoy like in the past going to gigs. Here in Berlin, they usually start very late in the night, the clubs are full of smoke and drunk people, so I prefer to stay home (and save some money too). But at the same time, when I go I’m thrilled, I enjoy a lot the experience. So yeah, I have to be less lazy. First concert of 2012: Nicolas Jaar @ Berghain
– help other people. I really like my job, I really do. But I wanna make something for others. Something that matters, not necessarily involving money, but something that can generate a smile on a stranger’s face. I talked about this in a previous post, so let’s keep doing it even in 2012.
– be more relaxed. I tend to be impulsive. And I wanna be like this for the rest of my life, because I was able to achieve a lot of things thanks to this aspect of my behavior. I have to work more to divide what’s worthy and what is not: I cannot spend all my energy on something that is not important, someone who’s there only for pissing me off. I have to be more relaxed on fleeting things or people.
– go to the grocery without going to the grocery. I wanna buy things over the internet. Come on, it’s 2012. I don’t want to spend two hours of my time choosing the right product among 1000 and then carrying heavy bags through half of the city. Look at this photo…scary, uh? for me , yes.
– help the web to be a better place (cit.)
– try not to lose more sight
– trust in Android. I wanna see this OS grow more.
– understand why people want to make public some photos over the web.
– use Google+ more
– hope to see live Amon Tobin, Trent Reznor and Aphex Twin. Not necessarily in this order, but still it would be a great 2012.
Now, let’s see what will happen!
