Chrome and Google.it : a broken love?

At this point, we all know what happened few days ago about Google, Google Chrome and paid links.

If you missed that, first: where do you live? joking. Take your time and read this post by Danny Sullivan , and then the consequences of Google misbehaviour .

After this news, Twitter was on fire. A lot of great SEOs I’m following were talking about what happened, and a lot of them wrote about this in their blogs, dropping theories and saying different things. It was really interesting.

I read a post by Rishi Lakhani called “Learning from The Chrome Penalty” which I suggest you to go and read it, where he actually analyzed what happened to SERPs when searching for keywords like “browser” or “chrome” in google.com after Google said it was going to penalize Google Chrome official page for the situation we talked before.

Big brands on Google.it

I have to be honest. I never thought I was going to do a lot of research on Google for big fashion brands. I mean, I’m always wearing cheap things, because I prefer to spend money on technology and music.

Both for work and for passion on topic, I’m looking a lot to first positions in the SERPs for big brands and I’m having a lot of fun, seeing what kind of spammy and crappy sites Google is presenting to me.

I was searching for “ugg australia” on Google.it.

UGG Australia on Google.it

So, as expected, first result is the official site. No surprise here.

Google doesn’t like scarves, not all at least

I’m working at Zalando, a big fashion e-commerce. To be honest I’m not so much into the fashion stuff, but I have to deal with it since I have a job that I like a lot.

To me a scarf is a piece of textile covering your neck when it’s cold. Period. Like this:

Pashmina: strange name to define a scarf.I cannot wear wool scarves, otherwise a terrible irritation all over my neck is going to happen. So I like what people call pashmina, like a scarf but not made of wool (this is the meaning for me).

I didn’t know there are people out there who are spending a lot of euros (really a lot) for a scarf, but in our store we have few of them. Like them or not, I know they value a lot because they are hand-made by big fashion brands.

Since I’m working for the italian market, I always want to find information about our brands and their products in Google.it , in order to understand better what it is interesting about that brand and what people want when they search for it.
